Meet Helen Langehanenberg
Helen Langehanenberg has been with Team Uhip for many years now. Helen is a world known dressage rider who lives in Germany with her husband, her children and her four horses on their own training centre.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I was born in Münster (Germany), am a professional rider (Pferdewirtschaftsmeister) and now live with my husband and our two daughters at my own training centre in Billerbeck, not too far from Münster.
Tell us about your horses.
I currently have four future Grand Prix horses that have already shown themselves to be outstanding in Inter II and young rider Grand Prix competitions - and which I am confident will one day follow in the footsteps of my former top horses, such as Damon Hill NRW, Damsey FRH and Annabelle. I also have a few highly talented young horses at my disposal who have already proven themselves in advanced (S) competitions and will be competing in the prestigious Burg Pokal Final, among others. I have high hopes for them too.
What has been your biggest personal achievement as an equestrian?
That's not so easy to say. To even make it onto the German team at championships is an absolute highlight - and then of course my team silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. And let's not forget the European Championship team gold medal in Herning in 2013. All my team-mates before that had faults - so as the final rider I had to ride two per cent more than I had previously managed in order to win team gold. Damon Hill NRW cooperated so well that we actually managed this feat.
What motivates you as a rider?
I love horses, I love riding dressage and I love precision work. I have just as much fun training as I do competing.
What are your best tips/advice for someone that dreams of a successful career as a professional rider/equestrian?
My mum once said that if you believe in something, you can move mountains. I used to hate that phrase. Today I know that you really can achieve (almost) anything if you work very hard and are focussed and don't let setbacks discourage you. Success doesn't come by itself.
What are your goals and dreams for the future?
I would like to take part in championships again with my promising young horses and of course I would also like to win Olympic gold one day!
Which is your favorite product from Uhip?
I love everything from Uhip because it's functional, looks great and is incredibly good quality. I especially love the long coats from Uhip because I don't get cold even in the lowest temperatures.
