What is a UV top?
A UV top is a functional training top with built-in UV protection in the fabric. It is designed for outdoor activities where you want extra sun protection while still needing a garment that is cool, stretchy, and comfortable to move in. Uhip’s UV tops are equally suitable for riding, dog training, walking, and other outdoor activities.
How high is the UV protection in Uhip’s tops?
Uhip’s UV tops come in two different protection levels: UPF 30 and 50.
What is UPF?
UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and is a measure of how well a garment protects the skin against the sun’s harmful UV radiation (UVA and UVB). Unlike sunscreen, which is rated using SPF, UPF refers to the properties of the fabric itself and how much UV radiation is blocked by the material.
A garment with UPF 30 allows only a very small amount of the sun’s rays to pass through, while a garment with UPF 50 provides even higher protection and blocks the vast majority of UV radiation. This makes UPF-rated clothing a convenient and reliable way to stay protected during long days outdoors.
Active UV: UPF 30
Refined riding top with technical mesh knit
The Active UV series from Uhip is designed for riders who want a combination of functionality and a more refined, “dressed” look in their riding apparel. This riding top is made from a soft and flexible mesh-knit fabric that provides both comfort and freedom of movement during long days in the stable or in the saddle. Polyamide adds durability and strength, while elastane ensures stretch and a flexible fit that moves with the body.
The fabric also features built-in UV protection with UPF 30, making the garment a functional choice for sunny training sessions. At the same time, the feel is lightweight and breathable, and the design is more polished with a collar and half-zip, making it equally suitable for everyday wear and active riding.
Sport UV: UPF 50
Ultra-light training top with ventilation and mesh zones
The Sport UV series is designed for more intense activities where freedom of movement and breathability are essential. It is made from a technical stretch fabric in polyester and elastane, combined with strategically placed mesh panels on the back and sides to maximise airflow during activity.
Sport UV features built-in UPF 50 protection, providing a very high level of sun protection in the fabric. The material is quick-drying and moisture-wicking, helping to regulate body temperature during training.
