How to wash your Everyday – lightly padded jackets
4 May 2026
For jackets with lightweight down-like padding to maintain their shape and performance over time, proper washing is especially important. We go through how to wash and care for the garment step by step to prevent clumping after washing. This can almost always be avoided with the right method.

Care Instructions – Step by Step
1. Prepare the garment
Close all zippers
Wash with similar colors
Turn the garment inside out if possible
Use a stain remover before washing if the garment is heavily soiled or has stains
2. Choose the right wash cycle

Machine wash at 30°C on a gentle cycle
Use a mild detergent, e.g. OrganoTex BioCare Sport Textile Wash, which also works in cold water. Suitable for shell garments and padded jackets
Do not use fabric softener
3. Important immediately after washing
Remove the garment from the machine right after the cycle ends
Shake the garment thoroughly to redistribute the padding evenly
How to prevent clumping
In jackets with loose padding, clumping usually occurs when moisture and filling are not evenly distributed during drying. To prevent this:
Always shake the garment immediately after washing
Make sure it is not left crumpled in the machine after the cycle finishes
Tumble dry on low heat with 2–3 clean tennis balls. This helps “fluff up” the filling and break up any small clumps during drying
Alternatively: hang dry and shake the garment regularly during drying
