When temperatures hover around freezing and precipitation often falls as rain or sleet, having a jacket that keeps you dry is more important than ever. Our most water-resistant winter jackets combine waterproof construction with freedom of movement. With taped seams and a membrane, the fabric withstands up to 10,000 mm of water column. Our winter jackets feature a fluorocarbon-free ECO DWR treatment, making them a more sustainable and rainproof choice.
What does “water column” mean?
The water column indicates how much water a fabric can withstand before it begins to leak. The value is measured in millimetres and shows the level of water pressure the fabric can resist; for example, 10,000 mm means the fabric can withstand the pressure equivalent to 10 metres of water on top of it before letting moisture through. The higher the water column, the more waterproof the garment is—something especially important for jackets and shell layers used in wet, windy conditions.
