She began dreaming about life as a groom when she was just 12 years old. Today, Josefine Carlsson is a key member of the team supporting national rider Amanda Landeblad.

Get to Know Josefine

For Josefine Carlsson, life with horses has been more than just a hobby. It has been a lifestyle shaped since childhood. She grew up in a family where both her mother and sister ride, and her grandparents’ farm became the base for the family’s horses, so the stable naturally became her second home.

“The absolute best part of being a groom is getting to spend my entire days in the stable surrounded by horses.”

At just 12 years old, she had her first experience as a groom when she accompanied her trainer to an eventing competition. At 14, she personally called Peder Fredricson to ask for an internship at Grevlunda. That courage laid the foundation for an impressive journey, from graduating high school to three years working full-time as a groom for Team Fredricson and Stephanie Holmén, and today she is part of Amanda Landeblad’s team at Jakobsberg.

What is your favorite competition and why?

My favorite competition so far is Aachen in Germany. We were there in 2024 and competed in the Nations jumping with the Swedish team. We jumped clear in the first round, and it was absolutely incredible when the entire stadium of 40,000 people applauded as they finished the round. Goosebumps!

Josefine’s Uhip Must-Haves

As a groom, you need clothing that performs in all kinds of weather. Here are Josefine’s three must-haves for the stable:

  • Everyday Hybrid Hoodie: My absolute favorite piece for every day! It works perfectly as a stylish mid-layer under a winter jacket or on its own during the rest of the year.

  • Hailey Jacket: In Sweden, we spend countless hours outdoors, and a really good rain jacket is worth its weight in gold. I use it just as much at competitions as on walks with the dog.

  • Grooming Bag: The adjustable compartments make it the perfect companion when we travel and go to competitions.
