Christine Siljedal
Christine is our first Norwegian (and international in general) ambassador in the dog segment! We are so incredibly happy to have her on our team, she is a joy to work with and an incredible dog trainer. Christine has two border collies that she trains in obedience and herding a little bit agility and nosework.
Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Christine and I live in beautiful Vestfold in Norway with my partner and my two border collies Ace and SeeMe.
What dog sport do you perform in?
SeeMe and I mainly focus on obedience. In addition, I herd with both dogs and Ace gets to train some agility and nosework when time permits.
WHAT DOES A NORMAL DAY LOOK LIKE FOR YOU?
Since I'm a veterinarian and work with horses in my own company, my days are very varied. I drive around stables in the local area and love that I can decide my days myself. Often one or both of the dogs come with me to work, so we can use our lunch hour for training, a walk in the woods or herding.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENT IN DOGS?
My greatest achievement in dogs has to be when I approved my first herding dog. That day meant a lot to me.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU IN YOUR SPORT?
In obedience training, I'm motivated by the communication with my dog. As well as working towards clear goals and seeing that we are gradually getting closer through regular training.
WHAT ARE YOUR TOP TIPS FOR SOMEONE STRUGGLING WITH dog training?
Find a philosophy and/or a trainer that you trust and like. Stick to a common thread in your training over time - dog training is a marathon, not a sprint. And go with your gut!
WHAT ARE YOUR VISIONS AND DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE?
My dream is that my husband and I will find a smallholding where we can keep sheep and maybe a couple more dogs. In purely sporting terms, the dream is to make the national team, take part in championships and, not least, win championships 🤩
